Most people keep sex out of their D&D sessions bro. Remember, you have to look 3+ other humans in the eye while you talk about your futa gnome undressing.

@Skumtomten You're really, really overblowing the quality of writing in the older games. It was good, but it was not leagues apart as you claim it to be. It was about on par with BG3's. I'm sorry, but Minsc's entire character wouldn't be out of place in a bad "woke RPG," for all his "lol so randumb" nonsense. All he needs to do is be genderfluid and done. The fact that Minsc is beloved by the fan base has always been a mystery to me.

Combat is slow? Compared to killing trash mobs a million times as was common back in the BG/ID/NWN days? Larian prefers quality encounters, not quantity of encounters. There are very few "small skirmishes" after you get past the very beginning of the game, to help teach you combat. Play on Tactician, maybe you'll find the game more interesting. But every encounter is designed to challenge you in some way. As opposed to the typical dungeon in D&D RPGs of old, which dragged on with a group of zombies/goblins/other trash mobs in every single rooms. Yes, unlike you, I actually remember what those games were like.

@samflintham1360 It simply tells me that Larian knew that they would be selling this game in the US. I can tell you've never been to Europe. There, nudity is simply not a big deal. In Germany, you can open a catalogue for home appliances and see nude women in the bath section. Just, y'know, because. The US is still ridiculously repressed on sexuality and it's quite frustrating to see, as an American. Only in the US would we need a "nudity" toggle in an M-rated game (it was already M-rated for other subject matter, but nudity is the only thing that gets a toggle, for some reason). The rating already speaks for the game. Not that even a child wouldn't know what a nude person looks like anyway.

There is literally nothing in this game more woke than the typical acclaimed Bioware RPG from the 2000s like Mass Effect or Dragon Age except being able to swap penis models.

@steelbear2063 It comes from D&D/WOTC itself. If you didn't expect this then you're uninformed about the IP.

@DebasedAnon First of all, why shouldn't an RPG have erotic elements? The game was already going to be rated M anyway. Are you really that scared of the facts of life? The reason why character customization was "ignored" is because they would likely have to revamp how character models are built/rendered to support morphing geometry with sliders. The same customization was present in the Divinity Original Sin games. On top of that, I believe they adhere to a design philosophy that "designed faces" are better than player-created ones. Personally, I think you should have the right to make a stupid looking character, but you make it seem as if adding 1 penis and 1 vagina, with and without a hair texture, takes an equal amount of effort. It clearly doesn't. I've played on Neverwinter Nights custom servers with an equal amount of genitalia "customization." It was frankly a very low effort feature. Secondly, why do you think that Larian will completely change their hiring criteria? Did the CEO get replaced? Are there new investors? Did they go public? These are the things that change a company's hiring criteria. Not a game selling well. If anything, a game selling well reinforces their existing strategy. CDPR branched out into a company that also distributes games, like Valve. Comparing them to Larian is ridiculous. Larian has shown no evidence that they want to shift their focus or change strategy yet.

You hadn't heard any of it because it's bullshit. I have over 70 hours in the game and there are bugs but nothing remotely what that guy described. Worst I've seen in a cutscene is bad camera placement so that you can't see anything, but the angle changes every time you pick a dialogue option. One time there was a funny moment where a character was really small/far away then suddenly zoomed up to the camera. I've only played Act 1 because my friends have weird schedules and I have about 3 concurrent save files going. Maybe it gets worse later.

He thinks druids aren't allowed to be black, I guess. I have bad news for you dude, D&D (the IP) has been diverse for a long time. There's a patron god of elves that allows you to switch genders with a magic ritual. Actually, there was a magic belt that did that even in old school D&D. If you didn't expect this then you're simply not paying attention. Do your research, don't be a fucking rube who "abstains from spoilers" to "maintain the hype."

Hilariously, there is a private dialogue option and it gets turned on by default for specific scenes (many of them not sexual).
