@refugeehugsforfree4151 Kojima is flawed but he tries, absolutely. He's a bit of an off-kilter auteur. Todd Howard is a lying bastard who never tries. I agree with the person you responded to -- I don't think Death Stranding was that good either. And don't get me started about his unhealthy obsession with Hollywood or his obnoxious cameos in games like Cyberpunk 2077. I'll still take 5 Kojimas over 1 Todd Howard any time.

@M_CFV Konami was always a shitty place. This was a well-known secret if you're "in the know" about industry rumors. Kojima took a stand almost 20 years too late. He claimed, repeatedly, that every MGS game would be his last -- but he couldn't turn down those sweet paychecks, and was too arrogant to allow anyone else to have "his baby," the Metal Gear franchise. He's no justice warrior. And indeed, Konami course-corrected him into making a game that everyone wanted on MGS3, whereas MGS2 was a deliberate troll to his fans -- but you wouldn't understand that unless you saw that E3 presentation and how it dishonestly portrayed Snake as the protagonist of that game. What nobody really understands is that Konami makes its money off of gambling machines in Japan. If every game developer that worked for Konami quit now out of protest, they simply wouldn't give a shit. They nearly shut down their entire gaming branch after Kojima left because the CEO was extremely pissed.

@archonthaaproducer If you think ME2 had anything approaching the freedom in choice BG3 did... I dunno what to tell ya. ME2 was a fun game, don't get me wrong, and it delivered a great ending sequence... but it was not a showcase for narrative choice.
