No reasonable gamer expects an official release to be "better" (by that I assume you mean, has more content) than a 12 year old game that has been consistently modded for those 12 years. They just expect the mod tools to be as good or better, that's it.

@IrenHawx It really wasn't that impressive even for its time. It was just extremely well marketed. Objectively, nothing that Skyrim did was particularly new or revolutionary for the RPG genre. The skill progression system has been unchanged since Daggerfall, minus the really bare bones perk system. Combat had already been done better in games like Mount & Blade and those other games also didn't feature the weird clunky canned kill animation mechanic that can cause you to suddenly die at 50% HP with no chance to dodge or block. It wasn't even really different from Oblivion. From a technical perspective the game needed to be hacked by modders to be a 64-bit executable so it could support more than 4 gigs of RAM. Honestly I'm amazed that even 12 years later, people still hold this reverence for Skyrim like it was something groundbreaking and the marketing still hasn't worn off yet.

Lol all the clowns malding in his chat because "weeb." As if default Skyrim animations that make it look like your musclebound warrior is a slow clumsy idiot that can barely place his right foot in front of his left are any better. Westerners are fucking horrible at animation, I'm sorry but it's true. Namely when it comes to RPGs. The only ones that care are the ultrahuge studios like Rockstar that develop their own animation engines.

I like how the "Skyrim lore" apparently requires its warriors to be clunky idiots who barely know how to hold a weapon as in the default animation set. Why can't we have actually fluid animations in the game for once? It is basically an action game with only a few RPG elements after all.

@zzodysseuszz I mean there are people who have played WoW since it launched. Do you think others take their opinions seriously when it comes to the game? They can't relate to casual players or even most hard core players at that point. I'm glad you got your money's worth but it's kinda hard to take your opinion seriously. Maybe if you played some other games your opinion might change.

Remember when the most popular Skyrim multiplayer mod in development went closed source and said "fuck everyone" because "someone might steal our code?" I remember. This only seems to happen with popular games. Watching modders compete for "cred" is fucking disgusting. This is why some level of formal education in software development concepts is essential, so we don't have idiots walking around thinking that they own code that they wrote for a property they will never own and can never monetize.

@FatManJackson Yeah, agreed. When I hear from my buddy playing New World, I cringe but he seems to enjoy it. Some people enjoy adhering to a schedule and feeling like they're building something with a community. Same with EVE Online. Note: I thought this was a reply on a different thread so you may see a completely different reply in the comments before I edited it.
