@JABelms Since anime was heavily influenced by Warner Bros. and MGM cartoons, it probably wouldn't exist, at least not in any form we'd recognize, if it weren't for "Western things." So I'm not sure what your point is exactly. If something is made by a natively Japanese person, it is not Western, even if it does take Western influence. Any other definition is insanely pedantic or too vague. At what point is music changed so much by a non-Western artist that it is no longer Western? Clearly you seem to think using instruments such as pianos or violins isn't too Westernized. So quantify that for me. Is it the time signature? Drum pattern? Rap lyrics?
