@Cimo8 It's just not representative of how humans act. Humans are racist, plain and simple. The racism goes down to our very instincts in the way we select mates. The universe BattleTech has a better representation of how people would act in an Earth exodus. Interstellar nations and colonies are founded in that universe by groups of like cultures that eventually grow and sprawl into empires. But at their core they're still a majority the original culture, and the dominant language of that group is that of the founders. They touched on the fact that, ironically, this would cause a greater division between humans because you can't interact with, let alone put a baby in, someone who's 50 light years away. And the people who are 50 light years away are mostly independent minded Scandinavians while your group is mostly Chinese and Russian post-Communists.

@RatusMax No offense to your teacher, I'm sure he's a cool dude, but the numbers just aren't on his side for marrying a Russian woman. It's certainly possible, but he'd have to settle for a woman who has baggage or other problems, or look a very long time for someone who is not bothered by social stigma -- something that is rarer in women than it is in men. People are utterly ruthless when it comes to choosing mates, and all you have to do is search up "Russians throwing bananas" to find numerous instances of Russians expressing their thoughts on black people.

The problem with the "it's a video game" argument is that you're completely downplaying the entire medium. You can't have your "it's just a video game" and also have your "it's art" too. You've reduced all games to a question of whether you take them seriously or you don't. As much as I don't like pretensions, I would like to be able to take the plot/message of a game seriously sometimes.

Also, as Asmon touched on at the end, it is a total disconnect from how the developers see the game and how the person making the argument sees it. If they didn't take games seriously, they would not be fit for political propaganda. It is like watching a propaganda piece and saying "it's just a movie."

@ThePartisan13 Only arrogant morons believe they can never be affected by propaganda.
