@jakekinder2351 the joke is referring to people who are averse to anything that might resemble politics in their escapism, even if it doesn't directly relate to topics constantly talked about on mainstream media in other words, he was making fun of the type of people that call everything "woke"

@belovedmarmot2803 carlin would be considered a right-wing extremist by virtually any mainstream media talking head today. his jokes about having a televised "battle royale"-style deathmatch for prisoners would be taken grossly out of context and used to smear him. and it wouldn't be for anything political he believes in, but simply because he wouldn't obey his masters the overton window has skedaddled to the left at breakneck pace but you're so desperate to seem "normal" and inoffensive that you don't realize it
