@alistair676 Statistics have shown that most people burn out of game dev in around 7 years though. If it were seniors leaving to make better games, they wouldn't burn out of the industry entirely. Some of them do stay, but overall companies like Ubisoft are destructive to the hiring ecosystem

@suoyidl2654 It's different with game dev, the only reason you'd be in that industry at all is passion. It's shittier hours, pay, and benefits compared to commercial software. They are being burned out by the industry, and it takes on average less than 7 years. The AAA companies have committed to a strategy where they fire devs before they can demand more salary because the supply of new hires is so high, due to the Hollywood-like glamor they've created for themselves. This is how they keep costs low and maintain the authority to demand absurd crunch times (because most of their programmers are first time juniors).

Is this guy the canary in the coal mine? I don't follow Ubisoft very closely (because they're shit) but this guy seems uncharacteristically blunt.
