Never understood the moral perspective. A huge part of our ecosystem relies on the ending of other life. Even plants kill animals, whether for sustenance or as a defense mechanism (poison). The vegan guy probably drinks coffee, and the reason the coffee bean is so caffeinated is that it is poisonous to bugs who would eat it. Is the bug justified in eating the bean? Is the bean justified in killing the bug to defend itself, or is it unjustified because the bean didn't even do the bug the respect of eating it afterward? Would it be moral to eliminate the cultivation of coffee to prevent insect deaths? These are the absurd questions one must ask oneself if one takes such an absolutist and untenable position. It is very pretentious for we humans to assume that we are above eating meat simply because we developed a frontal lobe.

@Kremenala You're right, but there's a difference: The left at best ignores their extremist elements, while the right actively disavows or disparages them. Then those with the mouthpiece (the media) only look at the right-wing extremist elements.

@wai828 In the US, the left does not remove or disavow their extremist elements, the right does and is browbeaten about it on a regular basis. What you're seeing here are people disappointed that the left did not police their most extremist elements.

@hansemannluchter643 No, it was a logical method of arguing. The teacher pointed out that the student had placed a burden of proof upon himself which he could not substantiate. It is not unlike a DA prosecuting a suspect for first degree murder simply because there was a homicide, then withdrawing that prosecution when there is an alibi, or video proving the homicide was in self-defense. The student did not realize that his baseless assertion was absurd because so many other people had told him it was true, and he simply took it for granted. Feelings only come secondary to the logical process in this argument.

@nicovalentin9922 Dude, nobody watches television anymore. What I'm saying comes from my own critical analysis of the situation. Life is not a game in which we one up each other in moral standing. It is a meaningless (outside of our own perspective) chaotic event which we are lucky enough to experience, and unfathomably luckier to have the intellectual facilities to reflect on it. Who am I to create pretenses that I am doing good by going against the grain of millions of years of meat eating life before me? Who are you? The perspective that not eating animals is moral, is an entirely selfish one derived from purely human emotions. Well, we could always be scorpions and eat our own kids when we're feeling peckish.

@teeemm9456 It is alternatively used as a reference to traditional methods, or bullying for change by implying the listener is stupid if they don't agree ("common sense gun control"). As with most language, it can be abused depending on who uses it.

@My.sleepy.berries Well, in fairness it is a country that has a sizable impact on Europe. There is a lot of power and food exported from Ukraine to Europe. It isn't unlike a war going on in China that has nothing to do with the US directly. We'd be impacted by it greatly because much of our products are manufactured there

@sharkybrickfilms99120 You asserted the complete opposite position of what I posted and pretended that I somehow said that. You're conflating a moral argument with a biological one. We are clearly more evolved than other animals, but that does not mean some deity has placed an onus upon us to not eat them. That one is entirely self-inflicted. Logically speaking, if anything, we should eat more of them. And most of us do. The moral argument is dishonest because it suggests there is a higher calling demanding that we stop eating animals, when in reality, it is the speaker's own conscience that bothers him. Which is fine, I cannot speak to one's personal experiences that causes one to feel that way, but I'd appreciate it if such a person did not act like their feelings come from a higher calling. It would be less pretentious to admit you are a Jainist or some other cultist that believes all life is sacred at that point.

The law enforcement agency involved would have to keep it a secret for as long as possible, and after several months at best, the target group would catch on that everyone who posts some kind of pro-pedo statement gets disappeared

@CoquiDeBoriken Personally I don't understand how they explain COVID being spread on cruise and military vessels crewed and patronized by only vaccinated people. I also don't understand how they could support effectively shutting down the entire world economy. The idea that this virus was more dangerous than the negative effects we're now suffering from lockdown is just absurd to me, even if you believe the high death tolls. Virtually every one in customer and food service lost their jobs. Specialty vendors, like those who provide services for concerts or other public events, folded entirely. Huge numbers of kids will now be socially stunted even more than they were by over-use of social media. All for the sake to protect a few at-risk people like the obese and the elderly who simply could have stayed home. Not every cost can be measured in death tolls. How many people will never have kids now because their lives were so badly derailed? Do they count as deaths? How many children will grow up to live difficult lives? How many relationships were broken? How many have developed mental illness that will remain in some form for their entire lives?

Here's a laundry list that might illustrate how ridiculous you sound. - Has hyperinflation gotten to the point that Americans can't buy bread with cash? - Are prostitutes and drug addicts walking around in the town square of the capital without fear or shame? - Was there recently a world war that we lost, that left hundreds of thousands of veterans with an uncertain future in frustration and disarray? - Was the prior administration so weak and disorganized that it was being subverted by militia armies of the aforementioned veterans, operating fully in the open, which they could do almost nothing about? (I don't like Biden, but let's be realistic, here.) - Did we get slapped with a shockingly high reparations mandate from a coalition of nations more powerful than us (haha) in the loss of the aforementioned war, one that seems impossible to pay? - Was our nation lagging behind terribly on industrialization and unable to compete with other world economies before Trump got in office? - Did Trump run as a third party candidate that had to make a coalition with the Republicans? - Did Trump quite literally stab his fellow party members in the back when he won the election because they expected him to work with the traditional Republicans or provide on false promises? - Is there an emergency powers clause in our Constitution that allows a ruler to wield absolute power, indefinitely? - In an extreme twist of fate, did a radical man commit a heinous act of terrorism that allowed the clause to be triggered shortly after he was elected? If your answer was "no" to all of these, as it should have been because it reflects fact, then I'm not exactly sure how the state of our nation or Trump's campaign is similar to the person you are referencing.

@caskap If the education system in whatever "shithole country" you come from was adequate, to borrow a Trumpism, you might realize that your comparison holds no water. In all fairness, however, I have yet to see a nation whose education curriculum regarding WW2 and the events that caused it was adequate.
