Wow, whole lot of people preventing themselves from enjoying good things because annoying people happen to exist. Sucks to be you guys, I guess.

@piccalillipit9211 you do need to be persistent but this is like smashing your face into a brick wall to break through it when there's a sledgehammer 10 feet away. this advice also doesn't work for every field. I work in software and most of the companies I've applied to work at do not even have some kind of front desk number that you could call. turns out, most companies don't want their employees time wasted with cold callers. who would have thought?

@vlim5601 Imagine being personally offended because other people like something more than you

It is sometimes like this. I am going on a date with a girl I had literally 2 lines of conversation with at a party. We got interrupted. I thought nothing of it, but later on my friend (the host) texted me and said she was into me. His GF is her friend, so she gave me her number and I texted her

Yeah, the lip service to mental health is disgusting. The most dangerous thing is the herd mentality that seems to lead people to believe that because they pay lip service to it, it's solved. I'm not particularly ill, but I've known many people who have been, and I've had my own brushes with anxiety, including a couple of panic attacks. Most people would rather never interact with anyone who shows even minor quirks or divergent traits. Meanwhile, I almost made friends with a woman who yelled at me for trying to pick up a fork she dropped on the rush hour metro so I could give it back to her. If it's a risk to your health that's one thing, but you'd be surprised how much inviting a suffering person to a casual event improves their situation.

@black-fenrir35 Problem is those women aren't worth being with in the long term. Indeed, most of the time it's not even possible to be with them in the long term.

@HerculeDevantrien He does have an opinion on the topic, that's the stupid part.

@ren_the_tarantula They tell stories in very different ways. I know it's hard to grasp, but Japan isn't a hive mind and visual tropes don't define their narrative tropes.
2
@ren_the_tarantula Not every anime has that. The tropes you're talking about are mostly in shonen or comedy series. It's like if I said I don't like Western animation because of cutaway gags and the sitcom format. I'm obviously talking about just The Simpsons and Family Guy, but I'm ignorant, so I'm applying those tropes to every piece of animation.

@unnamedenemy9 "woke shit" meaning "we will pander to increasingly small and divergent people at the expense of nearly everyone, and we will be blatantly hypocritical while doing so"

My parents rented Princess Mononoke from Blockbuster when I was like 11. I played Doom when I was like 5, so I was used to seeing gore and violence. It was eye-opening because I had no idea that animation outside of old Disney films could be that good.

@TetsuDeinonychus I love both and it's hard for me to understand why anyone else wouldn't. Dramatic anime like Jin-Roh can be incredible. And some of the technical artistry on display is just insane.

@WilsonEvergreens-rv3uj Most anything is bad, especially subjectively, in every medium. No idea why people pidgeonhole anime as being an outlier there. The amount of rancid shit that pours out of Hollywood's ass on a regular basis is no less smelly.

@gxkdykxiyx1985 considering that Hitler was never at any point genuinely spiritual, his closest aides and confidants described him as a materialist even as he pretend to cater to Christians in his home country, I think twisted is an apt word to describe misappropriation of a spiritual symbol. He even looked down upon his neo Paganist subordinates in the top brass, considering it pretentious nonsense

@srcoeiu6100 planned protests indeed, planned by NGOs and donors who pay actors
