Carrying a gun with you everywhere is not pathetic, though. You should try living without a car and walking around downtown in your local city for a few years, see how brave you still are after that.

  19.  @M4xXxIkInG  250 rounds is a single trip to the range, at most. 250/30 = about 8 magazines assuming they're 30 rounds each. Shooting requires practice and practice requires lots and lots of ammunition. The appropriate amount of ammo to have in reserve is based on whatever prices are available. It's always cheaper to buy in bulk. You can buy boxes of 500 or 1000 rounds pretty easily. Some people buy whole palettes of ammo. But this should be cheap ball ammunition. Solid slugs with no special qualities. After all, it's just for practice. For self-defense, a single 50-round box is enough.

  21. The "in defense of the state" idea is complete garbage, and I'll tell you why. Every one of the 13 colonies had their own bill of rights modeled on the English bill of rights. Every one of those 13 colonies' bill of rights had the 2nd amendment, worded 13 different ways. You can easily search them up and read them. If, after reading the contents of those 13 bills, you still think the founders intended that only state-designated military personnel should keep and bear arms when they wrote the federal bill of rights, then I'd say you're blatantly lying. We are talking about a nation where, in some regions like Pennsylvania, you were legally required to bring your gun to Sunday service because there might be an Indian raid.

  24.  @SVTDI  The Germans struggled with their semi-automatic rifles (G41 and G43), both suffered from problems and weren't ideal, so it makes sense they'd try to replace the Mauser which while reliable was quickly becoming obsolete. However once you have an StG44 why bother with any of those rifles? Unfortunately for them the war was already well on its way to ending when they introduced it.

  26.  @crowe6961  It's hard to judge Mosins unless they're reproductions, because they've been sitting in crates for decades and many of them have corroded rifling. In my experience they shoot like shit even after you re-mill them however.

  27.  @anonymous303-i1j  Why not? Many nations around the world, under constant reasonable threat of invasion, require military service from their citizens at a given age. I think some of them even let you keep the service weapons. That is not so different from requiring arms for citizenship. I would only add the caveat that it should come with proper training. Too many idiots who don't know what they're doing pop into gun stores in this country, it's my only real problem with the 2nd Amendment. But it's less a problem with the amendment, and more a problem with the members of the public who find teaching gun safety at an early age to be distasteful. As if adults somehow learn things better than children (they don't).

  31.  @wyqydsyq  The barrels are literally recycled 23mm anti-aircraft cannon barrels that were never used. I wouldn't assume it would work, but if any gun could do it it would be the KS-23. You'd have to find the weird 23mm shells the Russians use for that gun though.

Let me be the first to say I empathize, I know a girl who lied to me and went behind her boyfriend's back so she could shoot herself by sneaking into his place when he wasn't there and using his gun. But guess what? Red flag laws wouldn't have prevented that.

If the benefits to maintenance and reload speed were actually significant enough, then we would have used muskets through the Civil War. But we didn't. The only reason they weren't standard is they were more expensive to manufacture.

Still, it's interesting to note that civilians always had arms that were on-par or better than military arms, even if they weren't practical for the military to produce themselves for an entire army. Even today, the ARs that civilians own are often more accurate than the M4s or M16s used by the military, by virtue of custom barrels, triggers, or optics

There are those who brag about abortions but they're in the vocal minority. As usual it's just virtue signaling based on feelings regarding what some other people have said, without doing any research on WHY abortions happen or WHO is getting them. It's funny because you'll hear "men aren't allowed to have an opinion because they don't have a womb" but I don't think any woman who has never had an abortion and never intends to has any more of a right to speak on the matter, based on that reasoning. It's weird and ironic because you would expect, based on the statistical data, that pro-choice people would be racist eugenics advocates that hate American black people. But they are usually progressives that claim not to be racist. Yet they support a policy that is discriminatory by federal definition of the term (google "disparate impact" if you don't understand what I mean, I had to study this in the financial tech industry).
