@SVTDI The Germans struggled with their semi-automatic rifles (G41 and G43), both suffered from problems and weren't ideal, so it makes sense they'd try to replace the Mauser which while reliable was quickly becoming obsolete. However once you have an StG44 why bother with any of those rifles? Unfortunately for them the war was already well on its way to ending when they introduced it.
