  1.  @M4xXxIkInG  250 rounds is a single trip to the range, at most. 250/30 = about 8 magazines assuming they're 30 rounds each. Shooting requires practice and practice requires lots and lots of ammunition. The appropriate amount of ammo to have in reserve is based on whatever prices are available. It's always cheaper to buy in bulk. You can buy boxes of 500 or 1000 rounds pretty easily. Some people buy whole palettes of ammo. But this should be cheap ball ammunition. Solid slugs with no special qualities. After all, it's just for practice. For self-defense, a single 50-round box is enough.
