jon castro You're actually applying your own psychological instincts which were given to you by Hollywood backwards. In other words, you've seen too many movies so now the moment you see something that looks remotely surreal -- like the Earth from low orbit -- you assume it's some sort of film effect, when in reality it isn't. Have you ever been to the Grand Canyon? I've been there three or four times. You can get a similar effect by being there in person. The sheer size and depth of the canyon gives your brain a funny feeling, almost like you are looking at a still image, and there is a disconnect between what you believe is real and what you are seeing with your very own eyes. It's an effect that you can only see in-person and is impossible to see through a simple photograph.
