@billcarney829 There's only so far you can go before you start asking, as the victim, "Wasn't there anything I could have done to prevent this from happening?" He doesn't know much about Texas, to not be aware of defense laws. Still climbs around in other's residences. Didn't think to notify the tenant. It would be like if an electrician went to work without non-conducting gloves. I find it really hard to be sympathetic when said electrician electrocutes himself. The guy should be charged for manslaughter because at a minimum his shots could cause collateral damage, but if you're aware of the laws in Texas, then you should make the conclusion that there are people out there who will defend their homes with this level of paranoia. If it wasn't him on that Christmas, it might be someone else next Christmas. Adjust your behavior accordingly.

@thanosbustedinyourmum You don't think it's reasonable to assume no one is working on Christmas Day and therefore the person climbing on your balcony is here to rob you? I wouldn't have shot the guy immediately personally, but you're forgetting some key aspects of this scenario here.
