@sevenbillion2521 Because her suggestions were totally naive and generic. The whole idea of a short-form segment on "parenting advice" is really stupid, it would be like having a 2 minute segment on the show about "how to fix a broken marriage." These are complex issues that require in-depth analysis on a case-by-case basis, not something that can be generically discussed on morning television.

@emberhermin52 It isn't sadism you idiot, there is a reason the phrase "This hurts me more than it hurts you" exists and no it isn't just a Hollywood trope. It's called training and conditioning. By that logic you would also suggest that drill instructors are evil for making new recruits go through hardship at boot camp, or that anyone who goes to the gym is a masochist. Our brains are primal instinct combined with conscious thought. If the person cannot use conscious thought to internalize that something is bad, conditioning helps to make that internalization happen on the primal level
