Most leftists, the radical ones anyway, are idealists. To be an idealist is to inherently deny reality because you are trying to change it. Most conservatives are pragmatists because to conserve, or keep the status quo, is to work with things the way that they are, not the way they should be.

@thepeacefulbearbeer I'm not even really pro-Israel, but the simple fact of the matter is, if you want Israel to succeed (i.e. Israelities to continue being alive) then you have to take a hard-line military stance in favor of Israel. That's the nature of the geopolitical environment they are in. If not, they should pack their shit up and disperse across the world, as they existed before the 1940s. Otherwise, they'll slowly get picked off by their neighbors. To me personally, I don't give a shit whether they succeed or not because I have no emotional stake in any of the parties involved. But if I were playing a board game like Risk, and I was assigned to be Israel, that's what I would do.
