  1. There's no real reason to not use Uber/Lyft unless you have something against their business practices, specifically. Many of their drivers are in fact former taxi drivers. Taxi services are even worse to their drivers than Uber and Lyft are. Not only do taxi drivers not own the taxi vehicle, but they must also pay maintenance on it out of pocket. At least ride shares let you use a vehicle you own. I've used ride shares for ten years because I can't drive and you get to know a lot of things by talking to drivers. Stopped using Uber because of their dishonest rate offers to drivers. Lyft isn't perfect either, but I live in Texas, so I simply can't go without some form of transportation.
