@TheStrandedAlliance Death isn't bliss either, it is the lack of existence. It is nothing.

@wintercriessilverrainyatum9762 What if your health care provider listing for therapists is over 6 months out of date and everyone you call either has moved out of state or says "have you tried drugs" (literally the first thing they say over the phone before having even met you) or "oh uh, sorry, I don't treat you specifically even though you fit into the demographics listed as my specialty on my website" I honestly don't even know how good therapists get business because I've never seen a reliable "good therapist listing" and the health care databases I've seen just throw names and numbers at you with no meaningful way to filter them. I was lucky enough to be able to do fine without seeing one, but actually trying to get a therapist was extremely disheartening.

@jukaa1012 Most likely. Soldiers get PTSD routinely despite the fact that they have a lot of terrible things to worry about when in combat. They are distracted all the time, with no time for self-reflection until later. Consider watching your friend get mauled by an animal in the savannah for example, and all you can do is climb a tree or hide somewhere. You're safe, but you're forced to watch that thing eat. Even more likely, its whole pride/family comes out to eat. Then eventually, hours later, you can finally leave. Seems unlikely that this wouldn't cause PTSD

I'm not diagnosed with anything from a professional, but I have had trouble with anxiety and self-reflection in the past. Sometimes I still don't know if I need treatment or not, but I avoid it because the few therapists I've talked to about possible treatment were not helpful. Neither was my health care plan in telling me who I could talk to. What works for me (I am a very pragmatic and logical thinker) is to detach myself from myself . This doesn't sound different from usual self-reflection, but I will literally think of myself like I'm training a dog. I'm the dog in this scenario. Rewards are important because they put you on the track to good behavior. Don't ever think you are selfish for rewarding yourself if you improved. You need those rewards. I don't know if I'm right, but personally I believe that classical conditioning (i.e. get treat if good / get punishment if bad) can eventually give way to wholistic changes in behavior or perspective if you persist enough.
