@jweezy5490 I'm not talking about immersion or AR, I'm talking about modern app design, namely social apps. The problem with social apps is that the developers' incentive is not to create "the best app" but to create the app which prolongs engagement from the user for the longest, i.e. encourages addiction, and to make money by harvesting information when they can. Nobody demands these things, they're brainstormed in board meetings between developers and behavioral psychologists.

I'm a developer. I hate using phones because touch screens without much feedback are infuriating and most of the software is terrible, and I prefer to use desktops with good keyboards, so in a sense you're right about me. But I've also known a couple of developers who fit the "tech enthusiast" stereotype. I worked with someone who got a chip implanted so she could open her Tesla just by waving her hand in front of it, and also owns a 3D printer.

@monopalle5768 Nobody demanded that. The design for the apps you're talking about comes from the top down. People just accept the changes because they want to share photos with their family and are lazy.
