@rezkel7404 It's just a Japanese thing. Streams are referred to as "lives" in Japanese due to the goofiness of loanwords.

@CallForGrandPappy Normie brainrot: Knowing the exact bios, drama, and career records of sweaty football players every year is normal. Being aware of a drama that has blown up so huge that it is now mainstream is "sad life" shit.

@ElPinguinoNegro Again, Gura didn't start from 0. She had never livestreamed before, as far as I am aware, she just made goofy songs/VA content, but she was known. Funny to me how few people seem to realize this.

This whole controversy has shed a light on how vulnerable and naive many vtubers really are. It's interesting, because in a way, it shows that they're genuine and not always cynically playing their audience for views. Willingly placing yourself hostage to a company by moving to their nation under a work visa is just... I don't even know how to say it. You have to have no sense of self-worth to do something like that.

@hypertrixdark They're quite hands-off, the talent keeps their model/character identity for example, and can mostly operate with autonomy. This means that usually any hate for "VShojo" is actually hate for the individual talents due to varying reasons. A couple of examples: Mikeneko has a lot of obvious baggage following her that got even worse recently. Nyanners is a massive hypocrite when it comes to her past content and seemingly doesn't know when to not express her opinions on Twitter. It's not something I care that much about personally, but I can see why it'd leave a bad taste in the mouth of the viewer.

@yougoslavia Uh, Gura was not always a vtuber... She had a fairly big channel before she became one.

@和也兄貴 They seem to be obsessed with control and approach that dogmatically like some kind of cult leadership. Lowering their own talents' sense of self-worth seems to be an integral part of their strategy. Sacrificing their own achievements on the altar of the company is just another part of that.

I had no idea Niji even had those branches. Guess it goes to show how bad it is.
