@PatrickRatman The level design is extremely good and directly lifted from classic D&D (like, 1980s D&D) graph paper maps. That combined with the ruthless graverobbing aspect of the game makes it ironically one of the most true-to-form D&D adaptations I've ever seen. It's also not a battle royale because you can just leave and "win" at any time. There is no direct competition against other players at all, it simply emerges from the conditions of the match. Also, what the fuck is "forced PVP?" Did you expect this to be Left 4 Dead or something?

@tikkng It is genuinely nicer because you can see your whole inventory at once. Lists are absolutely terrible interface design. Even in games that don't have Tetris-style space management, having a 2D grid where each item occupies a box is a way better layout. Divinity Original Sin and classic CRPGs like Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, etc. all did this, it's only really Bethesda that decided to revert that style because they couldn't figure out how to make it work on a controller.

@RandyCivilized They look goofy, but it's clearly deliberately designed that way for balance purposes. I don't mind as long as the balance makes sense. I do feel they need to be on a more level playing field though. The mace is unusable for PvP because it's so easy to avoid and so slow. It has the worst of all worlds; slow and narrow attack range, means you won't ever hit anything but monsters. The horseman's axe is basically a superior version of the mace which the cleric can't use.

@rockleefanlj "progression isn’t tied to asinine challenges" Are we playing the same game? The one where a psyker has to force his whole team to wait and do nothing so he can kill a boss with brain burst to get a cosmetic?

@rockleefanlj Considering there is literally nothing to do in this game at level 30 except grind gear on bad RNG tables and grind cosmetic challenges, I consider it one of the most important progression systems in the game. They'll need to add actual content to the game for me to change my opinion.

I always play with a group and I would never be so stupid or imposing as to try these challenges with randoms. The problem is that the challenges are designed to make the game as unfun as possible if you want to complete them. The brain burst one defines your entire 20+ minute mission run and you can easily fuck it up. Same with the 100% accuracy Veteran challenge. Other challenges like Long Bomb or the one where the Ogryn has to bowl over a bunch of enemy Ogryns are much less annoying because they're more opportunistic and don't define your whole mission objective. Also, who mentioned Halo?

@Nicholasryan17 I will agree that this game has a weak experience for new players, especially rogues. Map knowledge is crucial in this game, down to knowing which rooms/hallways the escape portals commonly spawn in (hint: don't spend time in the trap maze waiting, I made that mistake enough times) and not having it, along with the other perk slots, will result in a lot of deaths. However, there is also supposed to be an easier dungeon level for low level players which has not released yet, so that will probably make it at least a little better. But at the end of the playtest, I was killing trios as a solo fighter with nearly no extra starting gear easily because I knew the map, knew what people were doing just based off sound from the next room, and knew how to approach them. One raid I even killed 5 people before escaping.
