  1. The thing that makes these people spout such absurd things is the telephone effect. The first lady is likely referencing studies that show if you wear a plain cloth mask, it collects germs like a trap and can actually make it more dangerous for you. But that is also assuming you don't wash or replace it after 4 hours. Then someone posts about it on Facebook and she reads it or just reads a headline that says "Studies show masks may actually be killing people."
