This is a dumb take honestly. Elon has terrible ideas -- hyperloop being probably the most iconic example -- but this is a simple monetization squeeze for people he doesn't like nor care about. If they don't pay and leave, it's a small win, if they do pay just to make sure they retain their followers, it's a win. Corpos will continue to use the platform because eight bucks is nothing to them and as long as they use it there will be an audience. But really I think the problem here is that Charlie underestimates just how much people spend on stupid shit. Our entire economy is kept afloat by people spending stupidly. It's the American way.
