@psychofangirl_0428 I used to be ignorant enough to dislike Christians in my early teens, but then I came to realize that religion does genuinely help those in need and it had a very important role in carrying us out of being primitives. It may not be help in the form of literal golden rays shining down from heaven, but this isn't anime. The real power (from my perspective, I'm sure many here will disagree but I am atheist) comes from the mind. If God in your mind allows you to overcome extreme challenges like alcoholism, then please by all means believe in God. It's a lot better than most "real" treatments like a shrink or mood altering pills that make you fat, and you're afraid to get rid of because you'll relapse into your old ways. As long as you don't think those same golden rays I mentioned earlier will happen to you because you believe, there isn't a problem.
