  1. Okay who the fuck has access to a wrapping machine that can re-wrap candy perfectly to make it look like an official product anyway? There was always fear mongering about this but I never once heard of it actually happening.

  2.  @HCG  Risk management doesn't mean you just ignore the risks that are unlikely and simply hope they don't happen to you. Carrying self-defense weaponry to stop a violent crime would be totally unreasonable by your definition, but it's a risk factor that can be controlled by an individual so individuals will control that risk. Also, it only needs to happen 1 day of your life for it to change or end your life forever. Taking an hour or two out of one evening in a year to check the candy you or your kid gets from Halloween isn't that much investment to manage such a risk
