@dimwitsadvocate6264 They have preconceived notions that they simply refuse to change. Perhaps they've staked too much on that notion, like maybe he's donated tens of thousands to Democrat PACs and he doesn't want to admit it was all wasted. Maybe all of his friends are dyed-in-the-wool blue bois and he'll have no friends if he votes on what makes sense for his business. Maybe he'll get divorced.

That doesn't work unless you also have a secure border. Look at East Germany. The wall wasn't to keep West Germany out, it was to keep their own citizens in. Security measures were pushed by East Germany far more than West, because every time there was an escapee, the security managers would have to be held to account, at which point they would claim that "we don't have enough resources"
