  1. Wow, and I thought medieval German executions were bad. That was horrific. Also check out Franz Schmidt, very successful executioner in 16th century Germany that basically commuted the less humane "traditional" sentences to sword beheadings. Stuff like drowning women who are convicted of infanticide, breaking on the wheel, etc.
