She was walking on a freeway, and decides to charge a cop for no reason... Yeah, I'm pretty sure she was thinking about ending it all. Before she saw the cop, she was contemplating running out into traffic.

@davidswanson5669 ... you really think security guards have qualified immunity?
26
@FullSenderson This is basically an ideal scenario for a taser, dude was barely moving when he was hit with it and shirtless. This just proves what we already know which is that people with enough conditioning, enough intoxication, or just weird genetics/nervous system issues are minimally affected by it. That's before even considering issues with acquiring the electrical contacts. If your tool fails when the suspect is most dangerous, why rely on it?
23
@PerfectDark0 It was adrenaline, hot-blooded not cold-blooded. In my personal opinion, the criminals invoked this dude's wrath and have no real entitlement to be treated with kid gloves after literally faceplanting him. A lot of bad things could have happened to him just in that fall. We give cops a lot of leeway in situations like this. Logically speaking, citizens should be given just as much if not more leeway since they don't have the same training. We could also blame our justice system, which literally rewards you for making sure there are no witnesses or defendants to testify against you in court, or to sue you for damages.

Gotta love the guys who disparage using a firearm to stop someone who broke into a neighbors home. Like it's immoral to care enough about a neighbor to use one. Or are they just so incredibly shortsighted that they can't imagine the same burglar coming to their own home later? If everyone "minded their own business" you wouldn't be getting any help either.
13
@generalkayoss7347 She fat-fingered the mag release while trying to drive, answer the radio and ready the rifle at the same time, with a wounded hand. It's not an unreasonable fucking mistake.
13
@snorman1911 I don't believe for a second that there is any soldier or LEO in a combat situation that turns their safety on when changing mags.
10
Because it's OK when the perp is shooting as long as someone hasn't been hit right? It's OK to wait around in that situation? Did we not learn anything from Uvalde?
9
@jaykirizz219 the child called them and was still unaccounted for, cop had every reason to believe the child could be taken hostage if he wasted any time. his head space was completely past introductions when the father decided to run away after he saw the cop
8
@gunsmoke9388 You're right, we wouldn't... which is why we're not cops. Hope you don't end up in a mall with your buddy bleeding out when a cop like this guy shows up.
7
@ryangriffith1500 he's called soap because he cleans the place up, not hard to imagine
5
Hand to hand combat is always possible and sometimes necessary. If someone grabs you or tries to push you suddenly for example, you can't respond to that with a firearm unless it's already drawn. I believe police studies have shown that you need to be at least 7 or 8 feet away in circumstances where an attacker intends to harm you (not the idiot in this video who apparently thought he could just bully the firearm user). Defensive training is key here, you should learn to defend against punches and possibly use that momentum against them to throw them off balance. Then you can draw.
4
@AKULA689 That's why you should only carry concealed, and only use it if you or your loved ones are immediately threatened
4
My dad had the same philosophy when I was a kid and after I started carrying and training more with my own guns I realized it was stupid. I figure that statistically, if you are insane enough to invade a random person's home (I don't make enemies), you are probably insane enough to not be scared away by the sound of a pump action.
3
@OveToranger he carried a gun with an additional magazine, which is not proof on its own, but combined with the fact that he seemingly instigated a fight -- I have a hard time believing that he was being targeted by that group for no reason while the other guys there to counter-protest weren't being targeted -- and even RETURNED to said fight, after having ample opportunity to get away, seems like he premeditated the plan to cause a fight at a minimum
3
@anonymous4319 Yeah, knives are very dangerous in these kinds of fights. There is no sure fire way to defend yourself against a knife wielder as an unarmed person, because they have more options of attack. But against a longer weapon, it can get easier if the other person has no idea what they are doing -- this idiot clearly didn't
3
@testingoyay4648 i'm nearly convinced that he checked the peep hole, didn't see the cop because he side stepped it like a fucking goblin, then assumed it was a set up and went back to retrieve his gun and open the door. that's why he took so long
3
Wild speculation. He kept his motorbikes in his garage. There is nothing that could be remotely conveyed as entrapment.
3
Not only that they were doing it at a building where nobody was even around. It looked like after hours or the off day for that school. Steel and concrete don't get damaged by skateboards. Who cares?
3
Gotta be careful around those Bravo Mikes...
3
@JAKEINHERE There are no refs in real life fights you clown.
3
@ghost2021a Technically you can but it makes things more complicated. People call into question what happened, you'll probably have to show up to court so it can be determined what you did was lawful, and so on and so forth. In this particular scenario, there were witnesses and hostages, so probably not, but in many others you make it more likely that you'll have to defend yourself in court by leaving
2
I didn't think it was tied to any one case at all. It is because of the extremely common headline phrase "Florida man..." followed by whatever crazy incident occurred.
2
@ambis99 If you want cops to treat you like normal people then you have to treat them like normal people too. It's a two way street.
2
Legally speaking, yes. The question isn't really the overall morality of the encounter, but whether a security guard does himself any favors by engaging like this.
2
The mag was in there at first, but she accidentally hit the mag release while screwing around with everything in the car. I guess in her mind the priority was threatening them with a round in the chamber instead of trying to load the mag again with one hand. Or maybe she just didn't notice due to all the other things going on
2
@wowplayer160 indeed, even most criminals infamously hate child molesters. everyone has a moral standard they aren't willing to drop beneath
2
@joshslim3 Manual safeties are a liability me bucko. I really don't need yet another extra step that I have to take if I have to draw my firearm on someone dangerous. I want the gun to function so I don't get hurt. "B-but that's dangerous to you!" Not really, as long as you actually follow the rules of gun safety and treat all weapons like they're always loaded and ready to fire. You do do that don't you? You aren't one of those guys who pretends that his gun is always safe because last time you remembered, you turned on the safety right?
2
@kenkarr9928 he condemned himself you absolute fool. if video is recorded of yourself committing a crime, then you have to come up with an alibi -- and prove it -- to show that you are actually not guilty of that crime. you don't even understand how innocent until proven guilty works. as far as we can tell this guy was proven guilty, now it's his problem to show that he is not. the whataboutism you keep resorting to is what the court would refer to as not "reasonable doubt." even if somebody picked up a rock, he could have literally just ran in the other direction. in fact he had multiple opportunities to do so. this is exactly how one shouldn't act when carrying a gun. you have to be the calmest person in the vicinity. always
2
@normtheteacher5485 I would highly encourage you to drop the "citizen police officer" mentality. That will get you in a whole lot more trouble than it is worth and possibly escalate situations that wouldn't normally escalate. You don't have the authority to enforce anything, only to protect those you love and yourself. The most dangerous part about that is the mindset without the authority to back it up. Nobody wants to take orders from a cop or a security guard, let alone some random old dude. Most of a cop's job is about resolving disputes civilly and enforcing traffic laws, not shooting or beating people up. The badge and uniform helps them mediate a situation but you don't have those. When I carry I only think about myself and those in my company, and I keep a running list of profiles of the people in the same building (or room if it's a large building). I think about transitional spaces like doors and tight hallways where someone might ambush me. That's it, I'm not looking for trouble or trying to "solve problems." That's a cop's job.
2
@John Borell III To be blunt, it shows a possible lack of forethought. Tattoos don't usually transition well into middle age. Your skin gets wrinkly, what if you get fat or your body shape changes, etc. I never quite understood large tattoos for this reason; it always struck me as an impulsive choice.
2
@Byronic19134 they nearly caused an accident because the guy with the gun scared him into flooring it and nearly t-boned the fucking white SUV. had they not intervened he would have simply driven off without incident. threatening lethal force generally isn't a good way to get people to act in a rational way also I don't think you have any right to tell people not to be judgmental while writing these comments
2
@JamesAlexander2 you forgot the part where he intentionally hid from the peephole, more than once, cop was an incredible idiot. he did this to check out a noise complaint, not raid a drug den. if you want people to treat you well don't act like you're about to rob them
2
30 years for armed robbery? That's how it should be done. None of this less than 25 years for manslaughter or even murder bull.
2
@APNFORD she hit her target because it was on the ground from 6 feet away, this woman has never received any form of pistol instruction
2
@Skelath There's a reason why you see SA rarely prosecuted and why the feminists complained so much about it in the 2010s: It is difficult to prove. Sure, this time there was a camera that captured the action clear as day. But imagine you were that guy, in that moment. Is it really smart to risk paying this dude's medical bills? Always apply the minimum amount of force necessary. That requires training which this guy didn't have. If he had a gun, I'm sure he would have used it; I've seen guns used in self-defense over less, when the person menacing the "victim" didn't even touch him. If you want to actually be prepared for situations like this, it requires more forethought than "I'm gonna destroy anyone who threatens people I love." You can accept that or reject that, but I hope you're at least rich and ready to pay for a lot of medical expenses and lawyers' fees.
2
@jaefrmbk2k it's also a reach to suggest that carjackers would successfully remediate into society
2
@jerrysnyder5398 We don't know what the cop got on the dispatch call. However I believe he knew the guy had a gun. Kinda stupid to wait for a guy with a gun to shoot somebody before caring innit? You'd think he would want to rush in even more if he thought that nobody had been shot yet, because it means he can still prevent any civilians from being shot.
2
@asm7069 I do understand how police work: they don't. That's why I exercise my rights and you should too.
2
@No1reallydies "Nobody gets jumped for no reason" I guess you've never heard of the knock out game?
1
@alonjar Well, I could also argue from the other side that anyone who thinks they'll shoot themselves while drawing out of a formfitting holster made for their gun isn't training correctly.
1
@DeeeWWW25 it was not a DV, it was a noise complaint with nosy neighbors complaining it was "DV." they were blatantly wrong since he was alone in the house and calling his girlfriend. they probably had it out for him for some reason or another, as asshat neighbors tend to do. things end badly for cops very, very frequently when they instantly believe everything some random accuser tells them
1
How about doing what everyone else does when they buy a new gun and RTFM? I'm an engineer and like many I find reading manuals tedious, but an exception has to be made for devices that can kill people when pointed the wrong way.
1
@millbanter5987 Practicing martial arts. I first heard the "slow is smooth, smooth is fast" axiom from my jiu-jitsu instructor. I would imagine it also applies to any dangerous tool trade like say, carpentry, blacksmithing, etc.
1
@koniko169 agreed about the perp, and i would have even said the camera guy was doing a valuable service if he kept his camera trained on the perp the entire time, however as soon as the perp ran to his vehicle he immediately went to harass the two old guys because they wore MAGA hats so that automatically makes them "affiliated," as if being in the same school would mean that you support a school shooter's actions. it's deranged behavior
1
Or maybe he was a mentally ill suicidal guy who wanted to die which was why he did everything he did to begin with. There's no way he thought this would end well.
1
@nishantchoudhary5497 run the fuck away, primarily. there's no reason to fight this fight if you enjoy living
1
@thomascrum185 Knives are the most common way to get a cop to use lethal force on you. There are way, way too many clear cases of a person who doesn't want to live anymore pulling out a knife, standing around in a public area until someone calls the cops, and then running at the cop.
1
@bobinthewest8559 it wasn't a desert eagle, but it was a gigantic revolver, could hardly believe he carried that for security
1
@mafro89 ah, it's been eons since I watched that movie
