@1cool I'm not saying this guy should be allowed to go out and do this. However, they objectively would not have died if the police had shown up and forced them to vacate the street.

@oggomedia "Don't pull out a lethal weapon unless you mean to use it." This is common to any martial teaching. Even if you learn bare-handed martial arts, you are taught to never use them unless absolutely necessary by any instructor who is remotely competent. Learning bare-handed martial arts is legal in every nation as far as I'm aware so this principle shouldn't be lost in a nation where guns are not common. The lack of ability for an adult to comprehend that lethal weapon in the hands of a total stranger might be bad is just too shocking for words.

@chinmaysingh2164 The ugly truth is that solar and wind are simply not viable at scale. Their farms take up way too much land, they are not viable in all parts of the globe due to differing climates and weather, and there are ugly parts involved that "green energy" advocates simply gloss over when claiming how much these energy sources help the environment. Namely, the mining of rare earth minerals (mostly from China) to make solar panels and the deaths of THOUSANDS (really, it is quite harrowing) of birds each year flying through wind farms. Not to mention the burden of maintenance involved with a completely decentralized power plant that is spread far and wide outdoors. For personal use, yes, wind and solar can be viable, but it simply will not solve the energy problems of a nation let alone the planet. In particular, Germany has possibly the stupidest energy policy, banking on solar and wind in a nation that is known for its lack of wind and dreary weather.

@MMCM According to the fact that the cause they're fighting for isn't even significant or impactful in their daily lives. In the past people protested like this over being taxed into poverty, blatant and systemic racial discrimination, and other things that had profound impact on their lives. Not because some billionaire told them "it is totally going to matter in 10 years, maybe, please trust us this time I promise the world will really end in 10 years. For real this time."

@MMCM "Can" is a curious choice of words. I am no legal authority so I have no way to say what they can and cannot do. What everyone else can do, however, is choose whether or not to take them seriously. I have presented an argument for why they should not be taken seriously. If their cause is fake and they should not be taken seriously, then they are nothing more than a nuisance, and not actually protesting.

You're now seeing the consequences of billionaire investment strategies which is why it seems so strange and sudden. Welcome to our global economy.
