@powderedtoastfacekillah734 Words mean what they mean. "Believe me" means trust me. It means do not doubt what I say.

People who pamper their grass to the point it isn't meant to be walked on are insufferable.

The world will end up a technocratic and corpocratic hell hole if this sort of thing becomes the norm. You'll drive to work on the General Electric (tm) Tollway, of course paying the compulsory $5 toll automatically via tag, then show up to work at the Amazon Arcology powered by BlackRock. That's short for architectural ecology because it's basically a massive indoor colony owned entirely by a corporation. You will be safe there and work for Amazon your entire life. Millions of people will wallow in slum cities outside the corporate controlled areas but no one will care.

@richardcranium3579 I was thinking more the lines of Snow Crash, if you've read that novel, or Shadowrun. Effectively, AN-CAP balkanization of the United States with a puppet government that exists mostly to arbitrate disagreements between corporations. But I believe it starts with the buildup of private corporate security forces.

@Techn0Snake If it was planned, it would be no worse than anything the CIA did domestically throughout the 20th century, and most of that stuff is public record. It's not unreasonable to be skeptical. This is what happens when organizations have federal immediacy and no accountability. I don't know why people are so quick to defend the government; the people there are just as corrupt as anyone else. However, I believe that stupidity comes before malice, and law enforcement in this nation is reactive in nature. This is mostly down to law enforcement's hands being tied; it's also a huge problem with stalkers. Someone could stalk you and send you threats for months and the police simply won't do anything because "no crime was committed." Often, they won't even permit a restraining order. It's insanity. Most red flag laws won't fix this properly however, because the accusation of being "dangerous" does not need to be qualified by anyone meaningful and doesn't go through a valid trial procedure. A victim of domestic violence could be accused of insanity by her abuser, for example, and put under red flag restrictions, rendering him or her unable to protect themselves from their own abuser.

@sherongordon-dilnassa6193 Something minority people don't seem to fully grasp is that white people are not a minority and don't think like one. That means they don't join political organizations to vote in one big bloc for the same candidate to match the clout of the majority, or agree to compromise on any other issues. In fact lack of compromise is the number one problem affecting this nation at the moment. "White" people are glad to fight amongst themselves over their own individual heritage and beliefs. There isn't a secret website or Facebook group where all white people go to coordinate their mutual hatred for other races. It's not a club.
