@My New York There are 47 Democrats in the Senate and 3 independents caucus with them so that number is increased to 50 plus the vice presidency, so it goes up to 51. The number of Democrats in the Senate will go back up to 48 on January 3rd, so it will still be 51.

@My New York Even if the Democrats were to have lost Georgia, they still would have had a slim majority in the Senate because of the vice presidency.

@My New York It says 49 on Google but shortly after Warnock won Kyrsten Sinema changed her registration to independent so the number of Democrats in the Senate is 47 right now but it will go back to 48 when the new congress takes place. The number of seats needed for a majority is 51 or 50 plus the vice president. There are 3 independents that caucus with the Democrats: Angus King, Bernie Sanders, and now Kyrsten Sinema, so that gives the Democrats a majority in the Senate.

@My New York All of the races have been called, but the Democrats still would have kept their majority without Georgia. Now, if they lost both Georgia and let's say Pennsylvania and or Arizona, then the Republicans would have gained the Senate.
