russia already owns donetsk luhansk and crimea. all those regions succeeded from ukraine 10yrs ago when usa staged a coup in ukraine and installed an anti russian puppet that started discriminating against ethno russians in eastern ukraine that was formerly part of russia. they succeeded from ukraine then voted to become part of russia, after 8yrs of war russia accepted them when it was clear nato intended to support ukraine in taking those peoples republics by force. so no russia is not going to go for that, they'll keep the land, ukraine won't join nato anytime soon and russia will have it's trade sanctions lifted or everyone keeps funding a proxy war and ukraine gets completely destroyed.

all that land was previously part of russia, russia traded it to ukraine for nukes in the 1950's but they reserved the right to access their naval base there in perpetuity. usa staged a coup in ukraine in 2014 and installed an anti russian president who started persecuting ethno russians in eastern ukraine which was formerly russia. those ethno russians then succeeded from ukraine and formed their own republics. ukraine have been trying to retake it for 10yrs, they've lost most of their men, burnt through billions of dollars and went backwards. ukraine could never join nato with a russian naval base in their country, there was only ever two options. ukraine gives up part of their land or russia gives up it's only warm water naval base. russia has a rightful claim to it's naval base and the only scenario where russia gives up it's naval base is after a nuclear war. ukraine should have negotiated a favourable deal to sell/trade back some of the land in eastern ukraine 10yrs ago.

@joe5923 Crimea was part of Russia from 1783, when the Tsarist Empire annexed it a decade after defeating Ottoman forces in the Battle of Kozludzha, until 1954, when the Soviet government transferred Crimea from the Russian Soviet Federation of Socialist Republics (RSFSR) to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (UkrSSR). The transfer was announced in the Soviet press in late February 1954

you made a lot of mistakes about the conflict in ukraine. 1) russia has perpetual access rights to their naval base in sevasterpol and a coridor to get there. this was part of the deal when that land was given to ukraine by russia. 2) ukraine started a civil war in eastern ukraine 3) the people of eastern ukraine succeeded from ukraine and formed peoples republics. 4) russia supported the peoples republics against ukraine by supplying aid and weapons but said they were not allowed to join russia as it would trigger a larger conflict 5) russia didn't invade ukraine until boris johnson went to ukraine and told them to reject the ceasefire that would end the war and that instead nato would fund a proxy war with russia. 6) the peoples republics in eastern ukraine voted to become part of russia and russia finally allowed it in 2023. 7) the people formerly of eastern ukraine that succeeded will never rejoin ukraine. the only way that will happen is to kill the people and take their land and property. 8) as it's now part of russia, you'd also have to defeat russia 9) russia is a nuclear superpower. they have more nukes than anyone, they have the largest nukes and they more than likely have the most advanced nukes. 10) nuclear war could render the world uninhabitable.
