  6. they are common, they can grow over 6' long. being an apex predator large ones typically aren't shy even if they've had limited contact with humans, they wouldn't usually attack unless you mess with them, but they can mistake a person for a tree if startled and run up their body and they have long extremely sharp claws. they are venomous but aren't deadly the venom lowers blood pressure and promotes bleeding they have lots of very sharp teeth even an accidental touch from the teeth will slice your skin. contrary to popular belief their mouths are extremely clean unless they've just been feeding on a carcass. they're regular visitors to my backyard and they'll even stroll in the house looking for food if the doors left open. but despite all they're really nothing to worry about if you keep your distance and respect them and i'm always happy to see them.

  7. shotover jet boat tour is the kiwi one you're probably thinking of. those v8 superboats are insane when you see a flawless run, theyre so fast you almost can't process what you're watching you blink and they're on the other side of the course. it's amazing that the navigators can remember where to go and signal the driver.

  12. i've climbed black mountain when i was 11, i know why people have gone missing. the "caves" aren't really caves they are gaps between these massive rocks stacked loosely as you climb higher you see that some of these gaps go way down if you fell in you'd bounce off the individual rocks on your way down or fall into a space you couldn't climb out of. you're not allowed to climb it now.

  17. due to the composition of the venom i think the inland taipan might have the advantage. because the inland taipan venom contains a wider variety of toxins that work in different ways as well as neurotoxins that work that work the same way as a black mamba. i don't know if that would actually give the inland taipan a resistance to the mamba venom but it seems like an advantage. but either way they live on different continents and you can't take the opinion of someone that calls venomous snakes poisonous too seriously. neither is poisonous.

  25. i've travelled in the outback in 4wd's and on my bike and to give you an idea how remote some of it is i've travelled 500 miles on dirt roads and not passed a single vehicle and not seen another person until i got to a servo. i've crossed the simpson desert solo on my drz400e 500km 1200 sand dunes, no fuel no food, no water, no shops, no houses and only seen one other person in two days. the rfds is absolutely necessary there.

Australia uses a type i plug, the cord can come straight out or out the bottom like a uk one. one good thing about our plugs is they come in different amp ratings and due to the different earth pin height you can't plug a hich amp plug into a lower amp rated socket but you can plug a lower amp rated plug into a higher amp rated socket, eg you can't plug a 20a plug into a 10a socket but you can plug a 10a plug into a 20a socket.

  111. its usually a bad idea to disconnect the trailer. whatever you hook to it can't get a run up to get it moving. it's easier to get a vehicle and trailer moving with a snatch from another vehicle. they needed to get the 79 series out of the way and hook literally any other 4wd there to it. all the 79 did was bury itself and make ruts large enough for the other vehicle to stay continually bottomed out.

  490. american currency is metric so americans use metric all their lives. there's absolutely no reason us citizens couldn't convert to metric tomorrow for measurement. the reason usa didn't is all it's manufacturing machines were in imperial it's not so easy to change out lead screws on lathes etc. but now with more and machines being replaced with metric anyway for ease of use that's becoming less of an issue.
