i have rainwater tanks all my tapwater is rainwater, i have a spearpoint to give me bore water for the garden which is common in rural areas. town water is always safe to drink in Australia but it can have a chlorine taste which is super noticeable to me because i drink pure rainwater. but you can remove the chlorine taste by letting the water sit for a while so a lot of people do have filters or water jugs in the fridge.

@veddyveddygood no filter, never had an issue with it except for once we went on holidays for a week came back and the water tasted foul. we had a green tree frog die in the tank and it got stuck in the outlet. had to drain the tank and clean it out. but nobody got sick or anything. my grandparents and parents have only drank rainwater their whole lives with no issues.
