  1. national parks used to be free then they bought in annual passes, then they made some national parks cost extra on top of the annual pass (popular parks like fraser island) then they used covid as an excuse to bring in campsite booking for "social distancing" with a fee to cover booking. And people just said oh it's just for covid, oh it's just a small $6 booking fee per day. well guess what now you have to book in advance it's not first in best dressed, you have to pay a booking fee and camping fees per day. npws are segmenting campgrounds into bays and closing out of the way campgrounds they can't easily patrol. it makes it hard to travel, if you want to do the right thing you have to plan everything and stick to a schedule to hit the campsites at the right times. already have issues with wealthy people just booking a campsite for the max allowable time to be sure they get it when or if they get there. national parks and wildlife service employees are hard left (you won't be employed if you aren't) their goals are making it difficult for people to access they want fewer trails, fewer campgrounds and more paid activities like tours, condensed camping, and more fees they're notoriously bad for feral pest and fire mitigation because they care more about collecting money and virtue signalling than putting in the effort. state forests are much better managed, but unfortunately npws has got it's sticky fingers into state forests as well.
