its usually a bad idea to disconnect the trailer. whatever you hook to it can't get a run up to get it moving. it's easier to get a vehicle and trailer moving with a snatch from another vehicle. they needed to get the 79 series out of the way and hook literally any other 4wd there to it. all the 79 did was bury itself and make ruts large enough for the other vehicle to stay continually bottomed out.

@rosswoolley2854 it isn't the standard procedure for 4wd recoveries it's a rookie mistake. if you were by yourself then you would have to winch or drag the trailer out. i have plenty of experience recovering 4wds. i've actually done recoveries at inskip itself right there.

"i don't know much about these" well that's obvious you're wetting your pants over it. 79 series are terrible in sand, toyota put the v8 in and widened the front track to fit it, but left the same old narrow track axle in the rear. so the front and rear tyres are both plowing their own rut. they are shockingly bad offroad standard. this one has had a shitload of money thrown at it and still can't get out of it's own way. you're probably looking at $80k usd or more there. if you watch more of these videos you'll see what i mean. and mate you're absolutely 100% incorrect when you say you have nothing that good in the states. i'm not a chevy guy but you're father in laws old chev truck would pull this thing sideways all day.

i grew up at stockton beach, it varies on hardness depending on wind and moisture. but hawks nest beach is far softer. and a lot of river sand is far softer. so stockton is definitely not the softest beach sand in aus.
