  1. i crossed the simpson desert on my suzuki drz400E in november two years ago it's 500km across by the french line and qaa line 1200 sand dunes, no shops, no houses, no food, no water and when i crossed i saw only 1 other person. i had a satellite phone and if i had a drama the guy from mt dare station would air drop water from his plane. i crossed without any issues used 34.6l out of 40l of fuel and 9.8l out of 10l of water i was carrying. the whole trip was 7000km long and half of it was remote desert.
