  1. always called it handball, never heard downball until this video. used to play it in school, we used bigger squares for a faster/harder game. serve couldn't be below the knees but after that it's fine as long as there is a distinct bounce and it's not a mully grubber. also kids that age in the video would be experts and hitting the ball full force when required one of the tricks is hit a few bouncers then hit a low shot for the far corner. and on low shots you'd hit the ball with the fingers closed fist in a sweeping motion with the knuckles almost dragging the ground. we also played wall ball which is handball against a wall, usually you have a line a foot off the ground and the ball has to be hit with the hand bounce once and hit the wall above the line, the lower the line the harder the game. it can be elimination with any number of starting players and if you get out you sit out until the single winner is decided or it can be just one on one. in multiplayer wall ball if the ball doesn't get hit by anyone the person closest to the ball when it goes out or double bounces is out
