  1. they can mimic the sound exactly so the sound you hear even sounds like it comes from a distance or certain direction sometimes you hear echoes in the mimicked sound as well. i've had a complete dawn chorus of many native birds with only a lyre bird around. and i've also seen grown women looking for a crying baby in the bush around a campsite.
