Comments by "Two-Row Euro" (@fun_ghoul) on "How a Hybrid e-CVT Works: Toyota 3rd Generation Hybrid Synergy Drive" video.
It's simpler than any conventional transmission, at least mechanically. The weak link, if there is one at all, would be in the computer control. Brushless motors are dead simple; the only parts they might ever need would be new bearings.

It's still a transmission with continuously variable ratio rather than fixed ratios. Also, the nomenclature is already out there, so why not? If not for that, they'd have to show this video to every prospective buyer who walks into the stealership.

I don't love "Canada", so I appreciate that you're ruining that shirt. Cheers from Ottawa.

Two brushless electric motors and an open diff is way less complex than a "normal transmission". This isn't a CVT in the same way as the junk they put in Nissans and Subies. The only wear parts are the bearings.

So...when you making an ebike out of MG2? 🤔

You have mashed potatoes between your ears.

@rodgraff1782 Opinions are like a-holes: Nobody wants to see yours!

Same. Seems like you could make a badass cargo trike with just the eCVT and no dino engine...

Engineers now design the failure points into consumer products. It saves OEMs money on engineering. 💰

@speedkar99 So...maybe a cargo e-trike? The only weight limit for those in Ontario is a minumum weight limit: 55kg. A fast ebike is a safe ebike, especially now that King Doug of Etobicoke wants to rip out bike lanes.

@speedkar99 I'm on land that the Omamiwinini never signed a treaty for with this so-called Canada. What if I just set up shop in your living room one day? I'll call it the capital of Joeland. Will you be proud to be a Joenonian?

@speedkar99 Maybe it just feels that way when you're doing 250 in a hopped up Nissan...

Lemme know when you can cover 2000 km between charges.

Fun fact: "Volvo" is the Swedish word for "rotating".

@rupano_vertoga5933 To be fair, that's the same with any cars. That's why a good number of people buy (or lease) a new car every 2 or 3 years.
