  8. Preface: I'm not Ukrainian or even Slavic, by any metric. This is kinda a huge question/thought sequence, so I'm gonna babble a bit, with your indulgence. First, there's the question of ethnic identity, which is broadly understood as "East-West divide" here in so-called North America (I live in Amerikkka's brutal colonial neighbour with better PR, "Canada"). Of course, this isn't too definitive, which is why it's pushed more here among the "Ukrainian diaspora" than among actual Ukrainians. To this point, pre-WWII Ukrainian immigration especially to the Canadian Prairies was overwhelmingly socialist, with the tide only turning when the war ended, and Canada imported Ukrainians by the thousands. Some liberal clowns like to pretend that many of them being Banderist Nazis was an oversight, to which I reply, "Bullshit!"
