  32.  @redbaron6805  "Renewable" in the context of hydro is misleading, given the GHG (READ: methane) emissions of flooding hundreds of thousands of square kilometres of vegetation -- and yes, living animals -- over the course of a project's lifespan, which could run into centuries. That is to say nothing of methyl mercury contamination, which is another major hazard to life in the affected watersheds (e.g. Churchill Falls).
