Well, the fact that he has experience in local body politics at a young age and the naivety and the innocence that goes along with youth suggests that, deep down, he had good intentions for getting into public service. Then throughout his parliamentary career he grew up professionally and politically to understand the real nature of politics, Machiavellian style. This is not about favours-for-favours. Listening to him at his media conference gave me the impression that he cares (very rare for a National mp) about the party enough to effect change by holding Bridges to account. Ross is right. Bridges is inept and ineffectual. Ross is taking a very principled stance and deserves credit. This whole idea that he is disclosing information because he didn't get what he wanted seems like it was reverse engineered in a hurry so that this scandal can be put to rest in time for the next election.
