  1. The Luftwaffe pretty much grounded itself quickly anyway due to ridiculously poor maintenance structure. For most of the war damaged aircraft had to be sent by rail essentially back to the manufacturer for repairs. Turn around took a long time to begin with and once the railways started getting hit, it pretty much prevented repairs all together.
