They focused on the wrong arguments. What they should focus on is that the lack of oversight, accountability, and security protocols DOGE operates under makes it nearly impossible to enforce the Privacy Act of 1974. There are other good arguments but finding federal legislation they are in violation of is the best way to fight it.

The press should stand together, boycott the White House press pool, show no images of any of the sdministration officials in coverage etc. As vain as Trump and company are, they'd fold.
21
If you can't do it Constitutionally, don't do it at all.
10
Don't be so selfish... Corporations and the wealthy need their welfare. They have suffered for so long...
10
The fact that Republican Congress members are OK with his usurping of the legislative branches power and violation of the Impoundment Control Act is just sickening. Why are they even there, if they aren't going to do their jobs. This shouldn't even require the courts. Articles of Impeachment should already be on their way to a vote.
9
Go after it in an appropriate manner, or don't go after it. DOGE has no need to see private citizen's records. It's just snooping.
8
Good. There's a reason 21 DOGE employees resigned citing ethical and moral concerns over how the agency operates.
8
Now where did I put my tiny violin...
7
What's unethical is invoking a nonrelevant war powers act to deny due process... SCOTUS needs to put the hammer down on his abuses fast if they want the Judicial Branch or out legal system to have any legitimacy left.
6
Sorry but Musk needs every penny he can get for the contracts Trump promised him.
6
Good. No deportations without due process. The government should have to prove their claims openly in court before taking any action against anyone in this country.
5
@scotgarland7526 Trump got his days in court, legal representation and juries... AKA due process.
5
Or maybe because a lot of internet kiddies who aren't there like to make up their own "probablies" and post them on social media for likes...
5
Yes, they do. At least according to the Constitution.
5
@thewizard7099 Your argument defeats itself... the fact that certain rights specifically mention citizens shows that unless specifically granted only to citizens, it applies to all.
4
Vote no on cloture.
4
All countries should pull a reverse Trump and deny all access to news agencies who use Gulf of America and their subsidiaries. AP would become the world news leader.
4
But how can anyone know since they were denied due process?
4
It only accounts for ~$200B in direct funding and over $1T in indirect benefits... lol
3
Well, 21 DOGE employees resigned yesterday citing ethical and moral concerns over how the agency operates... so who really looks sus?
3
Wrong. Try again.
3
"If" is the keyword. Without due process, that "if" cannot be determined.
3
Begone bot
3
That would look good on his tombstone... we can only hope.
3
But then what would they use for 🧻?
3
Congress could make such a law. A President can't because the Executive Branch is not the law making branch...
2
@johnm7208 Grow up
2
@genxpilot69 Nope. The Constitution guarantees due process to all. Citizen or not. How else would one have the chance to prove they're a citizen if the government claims otherwise... Think about things.
2
Under the Constitution, that's Congress's job, not a President's.
2
MAGA
2
Because the government attorney stated in court that it was an accident...
2
Lots of personal data of private citizens protected by the Privacy Act is available in DoE files.
2
The weapons deals he made with them.
1
But... muh tranzparenzy...
1
@demonicloaf2100 Their MAGA rotted brain...
1
@Nonsensically All they have to do under this act is tell you that your ID/birth certificate is fake and you're gone. No attorney, no hearing, no calls to family, nothing. Marco Rubio simply has to sign a piece of paper.
1
$200M+ to refit it. Won't be usable until 2027 most likely. Will be expensively stripped and mothballed in 2028 and then stored and maintained at taxpayer expense at his library... and we still have to pay for the new one. Not very conservative of a conservative...
1
No they aren't. Look carefully at their tweets on their website. They're just telling you what a dollar amount on a nondescript form represents. That's meaningless.
1
@DeltaUntrusted If you're looking at their official government website, then all you're looking at is retweets... and those links are only available behind a ToS with a private company (which technically violates federal law). If they had real evidence, they wouldn't be afraid of FOIA.
1
Wow, you're a weak person.
1
My car won't start... guess I'll have it towed for scrap. Great logic there.
1
@Inkdisc My car starts fine. It's not American made.
1
Taxpayers will spend $200M refitting it and it won't even be usable until late 2026, early 2027 (unless they ignore safety and security regulations). Then we will have to pay to strip a lot of all that out and to mothball and maintain it at his library starting in 2028... some "gift." I thought he represented conservatives.

The government can't wave a magic wand and make it all better after something like this. FEMA's role is not to just dish out money and rebuild everything. They are stabilizers. Emergency food, shelter, medical etc. In any other country the size of the US, there would ultimately be thousands or even tens of thousands of additional deaths and it would take years (if not decades) to recover in rural areas following an event like this. People were getting water, food, and basic care as they could be reached. Now some won't thanks to a certain demographic deciding to use tragedy for political gain. Good job...
1
@scotgarland7526 So you're going to claim all 12 jury members, the judge, and prosecutor were biased? What type of legal system would you suggest to prevent such bias then?
1
@dyingembers-u2g They are saying that an illegally invoked act cannot be used to deny due process. Each person being deported has a right under the Constitution to a hearing and a lawyer first. If they truly are illegals, then they would then be deported. Quit spouting stupid pro pag anda.
1
But MAGA is all about corporate/industry welfare...
1
They were doing what the agency was created to do. They aren't rebuilders and they have never dished out money in any significant amount to individuals. They are a stabilizer. They provide emergency food, housing, medical, etc. Rebuilding will come later and require it's own assessment and funding. Now, they can't even do their job because a certain candidate and their ill-informed supporters have decided to misrepresent the situation for political gain. The government can't magically wave a wand and make all the bad things go away. What they can do is keep the death toll well below what it would be elsewhere...which they have...though if people are going to be foolish enough to chase them off, well...
1
@Big_Braincell It's not FEMA's job to dish out money and rebuild. They are a stabilizing agency. They provide emergency food, shelter, medical, etc. All of which they were doing. Rebuilding and financial assistance comes later from other government action state/local/and federal once the immediate situation has been stabilized...which will now take longer thanks to misinformation and those seeking political gain from spreading it.
1
@anonone8954 No, common sense actually dictates the opposite... but then, common sense is a rare commodity among the fascist party.
1
@stuffbenlikes No they don't. It goes against the core of journalistic integrity. The "President's" order only applies at the federal level. No one is required to acknowledge it outside of the government. Take away the threat of losing access to the White House press pool, and every journalist out there would tell you that Trump is being a big baby.
1
@ate71622 Quit with the nonsense kid. It just makes you look stupid.
1
This is why Alabamians can't have nice things..
1
@lauraelliott9571 He refused a background check, though, and should not have a clearance without one. The President questionably gave him one anyway.
1
@jamesmiller3098 It was left to Congress to create them as needed for population growth and national expansion. The power of those courts comes from the Constitution itself however. Thus, as part of the Judicial Branch, they are all part of the checks and balances system.
1
They were responding. MAGA just decided to sacrifice the wellbeing of people in NC for the "cause" by spreading more bs.
1
It has to make it's way up the court ladder and the Executive Branch is responsible for respecting all court orders while it does.
1
They post partial screenshots of nondescript forms with meaningless dollar amounts on them and then say in tweets what those amounts represent. That's not evidence.
1
This was an appeal.
1
I've read the House proposed budget... what isn't based in reality is what DC Republicans are saying about it.
1
$200M is a lot for a broke con man to cover.
1
Trump can if he wants to... prison deal and any future funding from the US off and 100% tariffs until they release him to our custody. Dude would be on a plane in an hour.
