More like cowards...

The Russians won't guarantee the safety of the civilians in the plant's bunker. Only those from elsewhere. They've also been rounding up civilians seeking safety and taking them to Russia against their will.

@zain4019 I doubt it will maintain that rate long enough to reach such totals over that amount of time. Currently (in the US) it's mainly hitting areas with the highest population densities. As it moves out into less dense areas, it's infection rate will likely slow down accordingly. We'll just have to wait and see.

Kentucky isn't the brightest state in the union...
1
@Big-lron There's actually quite a few new depositions and other evidence not included in the original indictment. Just to make sure it meets SCOTUS's requirements.
1
That evidence was never presented in the Senate. The House managers caught the error on their own before the Senate trial ever started (Trump's lawyer himself pointed that out.)
1
@aldofromsf The edits you're talking about don't meet the standard to be considered "doctoring." The laws concerning editing are directed at things like deepfakes, actually inserting things a person didn't say etc. Just cutting things down for time, even if out of context, is allowed. Edit: Also, the questionable evidence was never introduced during the trial. At best you could say it was displayed for the "grand jury." Considering what was changed, it's unlikely that that bit would get a case thrown out of court. Disbarment would be unlikely as well. There would be a hearing and it would need to be shown that the questionable evidence was done with intent to deceive and that doesn't seem to be the case here.

@SynValorum If you want to support a false friend that's only good for causing us trouble with nothing of any real value to offer in return, sure.
1
@mosark6554 Sadly, you'd be wrong. Part of the strategy in fighting their oppressor is for Palestinian civilians to be killed in punitive reprisals. Every death nudges international sympathy for the Palestinians a little higher and lowers the international opinion of their oppressor a little more.
1
It's a victory for the Palestinians, they increased international sympathy for their cause, cost Israel at least $200M, obtained a good idea as to how much rocket spam it will take to overwhelm and exhaust Israel's "iron dome", and now have some time to build up the necessary number of rockets to do so. All for the cost of a few buildings and ~0.01% of Gaza's population. Sad as the losses are, strategically that's a win.

What the doctors need to be telling people is that it's mortality rate is 7 to 8 times lower than that given by the media. They don't include the positive for antibodies people in the calculation like they should. It is definitely dangerous and requires safety measures, but the unnecessary fearmongering for ratings by the media needs to stop...
1
@robertjohnson1681 Decisions can only be as good as the information they're based on. Deblasio's statements were made before it had even been declared a national emergency and matched the information coming from the cdc and other federal sources at the time (including the President's continued downplaying of the threat.) While the President's claim of wanting to avoid panic by witholding what he knew from the public is at least legitimately arguable, he could and should have passed his real concerns on to governors, mayors, etc. to give them a better idea of the danger so they could properly prepare. By not doing so, he ultimately made the threat to the public greater than it needed to be.
1
They delayed it to attempt to get Republican support for it (unity and all...) It now looks like they've finally given up on that and are just going to push it through via budget reconcilliation instead. That only needs a simple majority in the Senate as opposed to the 60 needed otherwise. It'll probably be passed before the end of the week. Edit: Executive orders can't be used for budget related things like the covid relief. Those have to go through Congress.

@lanierredd3 f*ck off

Way to earn those rubles. In a few decades they might actually be worth more than the paper they're printed on...to collectors of relics from the failed Russian state.
1
Apparently the medical examiner is...This case is the first time I've ever come across a medical examiner's report where they arbitrarilly ruled out the only potential cause of death supported by physical evidence from autopsy in favor of one with no such support...Maybe he's just incompetent.
1
I'd much rather run the stars and stripes up the pole than a white flag like our previous mistake was fond of doing.
1
Even more embarrassing that we have a President elect who can't even wait until he's in office to start lying about his dealings with other countries...
1
@anttttmannnn It's a paid political spam account spouting MAGA catch phrases for likes.
1
SuperDave Miorgan Initially, that's what it was thought to be considering the information that was available. No official medical examiner report has been released, but there are rumors that it may have been due to bear mace instead which was heavily used at close range by the insurgents. Personally, I hope it was blunt force trauma. Death by bear mace would a much less pleasant way to go.
1
@lilaharris5804 He made it back to his precinct afterward, made some calls, etc., seemed ok but then collapsed. That's why head trauma was suspected. When people suddenly collapse an hour or two after a physical altercation, it's often due to a slow bleed in the brain.
1
Thanks to the paranoia caused by the Chinese balloon...yep. that's possibly what's going on here already. The sizes, descriptions, and even altitudes of these other "objects" are all consistent with their being solar balloons. Their origin is likely either hobbyists, part of an experiment, or trolls.
1
Bah, He's just another lazy attrition general like the rest. His past successes have come at a steep price when it comes to casualties and equipment loss. He'll most likely deplete his soldiers morale even quicker than the original commander did and have to "regroup" again in a week or two.
1
Nah, if this minor abuse of her power is as far as her bias goes, she'll lose respect among her non Trump appointed peers but that will be about it. Anymore bullsh*t like this though and she could very well find herself looking for a new job.
1
There's more to the relief than just the cash payout. Increases and/or extensions to unemployment benefits, food stamps, etc. are also included as part of the cost. Also, the payout amount increases for those with dependents and some other conditions. In the $600 bill, the cash payout accounted for about 1/3 of the total cost when those other benefits were factored in. As usual, there's definitely too much pork included in our budget, but it's not as lopsided as some would have you believe. Edit: With the $600 bill, I mean solely the covid relief portion. Not all the other budget items in the full appropriations bill.
1
Executive orders can't deal with budget related things like covid relief. Those have to go through Congress.
1
There are fates worse than death. Living under Putin's boot may well be such in the eyes of many Ukrainians. He's made it clear that he will never agree to terms that don't leave him in far more control than is acceptable so negotiations likely aren't realistic at this point.
1
Executive orders can't deal with budget related things like the relief bill. Those have to go through Congress.
1
You evidently don't...

I've read the law in question. The answer to your question is no one.

The brown shirts...er red shirts...are out in force in the comments...with the bots in tow

~3.5% of what Trump's golf trips alone cost us (low ball estimate.) Which doesn't include trips to his properties where he didn't play.
1
The people will not allow him to overstay his welcome.
1
Better things to do.
1
It'll be interesting to see. Technically, a pardon can only be issued once sentenced and the DOJ can't force a judge to dismiss a case that has already been concluded and awaiting sentencing. Theoretically, the judge could hold it until he's out of office and then sentence him.
1
I really hope Trump was following proper security protocol on personal device use...though I doubt it. A VP is forced to. Edit: Also, dislike for the click bait title.
1
The US occupation of Japan following their surrender at the end of WWII would beg to differ. That situation was an extreme outlier though. For the most part occupations do tend to lead to loss of rights.

YouTube Censorship Grow up kid.

60+% of the budget goes to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the like. The majority of the rest goes to the military. Only ~1% goes to foreign aid.
1
@JustinSwimberlake5236 Past and present US budgets. The data is available through many sources.
1
It's the stubborness of someone who refuses to be driven from their home and will continue to go about their business regardless of the danger. It's likely also her own little way of telling Comrade Putin to go eff himself.
1
@k333rl There are many in the US still who understand her behavior and would do likewise in similar conditions.
1
Injustice for Derrick Chauvin...

Then move there and rid us of your filth.
1
@webportal6659 Actually, they do. As a Trump appointee she should have recused herself to begin with. Also, there's no point in bothering with a special master in this situation. The only purpose it serves is as a delay tactic. The types of documents they will be looking for will make up a tiny fraction of the total and their removal will not significantly affect the case. Going through the bs of vetting whoever is picked for the security clearance to view the documents will just be time wasted. Especially if that pick happens to fail their background check thus forcing the process to be repeated for a new choice.
1
Ever stop to think that maybe the civilians still there are there by choice? Some people would rather die at peace with themselves at home than abandon it all just to live a little longer.
1
@phoebus Because Trump's policies from the mid 1800's to the early 1900's are exactly what we need to move forward...
1
Grow a pair so you can respect what you see in the mirror...
1
We don't have much choice in the matter currently. Israel has made a habit of reminding us that without our support, they may be "forced" to add the use of their nuclear arsenal to their military doctrine. In "self defense" of course...
1
Nah, this has always been their goal. It's the only logical approach for someone trying to reform the Soviet Union by force. If you don't wipe out the people whose country you're stealing, it will just become a guerilla war later. They were simply trying to save money by throwing fodder at the cities originally. Conscripts are far cheaper than hypersonic missiles and air strikes.
