  3. While I'm glad the country stayed together and slavery was ended, the constitution did not prohibit secession nor did it delegate any powers to the federal government concerning it. Under the 10th amendment, that made it a state issue. Legally, the secession of the southern states was justified. Lincoln's decision to force states to stay against their will however was unconstitutional. Had the founding fathers been there to see Lincoln's behavior, they would have labeled him a tyrant and considered him little better than king George.

  4. It does show questionable judgement on President Biden's part. Especially since the last two slips could have been avoided had he simply taken the time to compose himself after the first instead of trying to go even faster out of embarassment. There's nothing wrong with a 78 yo taking their time to walk up stairs. One should care less about being judged on their age and more about acting it. Especially if they happen to be President. The former is a sign of insecurity. The latter is a sign of wisdom.

That made it a state issue under the 10th amendment. As such, the states which chose to leave did so legally and without meeting the constitutional definition of treason. No treason, no traitors.
