  1. Listen up children. It's time to grow up (though Tucker's gone so far off the rails, he may be a lost cause at this point.) The "they got away with it, why can't we" argument ceases to have any legitimacy once you're around 10 or 11 years old...if not sooner. If you ever want to be taken seriously by adults, you'll quit using it. Also, the riots in the cities and the riot at the Capitol Building have a major difference between them that negates the aforementioned childish argument anyway. The riots in the cities happened in...the cities. Aside from protecting federal property, it's not federal law enforcement's job to deal with them. If you have a problem with how they were handled, take it up with the relevant state and local governments. The attack on the Capitol Building was a direct attack on the country as a whole. While people living in insane places like Portland, Seatle, Atlanta, etc. may not care enough about their cities to protect them or at least hold their local/state leaders accountable for their pathetic handling of them, the same cannot be said for the country as a whole. That crossed a major line and to be fair, those who participated in it are getting off very light considering the severity of their actions.

The prohibitions are tied to being "in or near" the property but no specific distance is provided to define "near." A first year law student could get such charges dropped easily. Also, regardless of whether or not intimidation is involved, if any part of the law in general violates the first amendment, the law would be unconstitutional and some aspects of it do appear to violate it. Only direct threats of violence would not be protected and most of the protestors seem well aware of that and have adjusted their approach accordingly.

  7. Executive orders have the same legal standing as laws in instances where such would matter. All they are are policy directives to agencies within the executive branch. The actions of those agencies in fulfilling those directives is where legality usually come into play.

  13. I'm an independent and can't speak for Democrats but I don't have a problem with the Palestinians burning our flag. We are the primary source of the 2,000 lb. bombs the IDF has been criminally misusing on the civilian population of Gaza. We've earned their enmity. As for the upside down US flag, I'd rather not see one flying over a SCOTUS Justice's property but it simply means distress and isn't right or left wing exclusive so fine. A SCOTUS Justice allowing an Appeal to Heaven flag be flown over their property however, is very concerning... It not only has religious connotations, but is also strongly associated with the hard right. A double whammy for someone who's job is suppose to require them to be as unbiased as possible.

  15. Between his abysmal performance so far and his increasingly apparent cognitive decline, the party and/or his family will talk him out of running again. They know that the majority of those who voted for him were voting against Trump/for the democratic platform in general, not for Biden himself and they know that many of those votes won't be there next time. I wouldn't be surprised if he were to annouce that he will not be running again (or perhaps resign/get removed by the 25th amendment) shortly before campaign season comes along.

I guess the Dems could have taken pity on him and taken him in, but they already have the majority of his votes on their side anyway and who wants to deal with the added distraction of Trump continuing to mock RFK if they did?

Had any other country with a competent military come to Ukraine's aid early on, Russia would have been forced to withdraw. The US could have sent in air power only and driven the out. Executive power/privilege plays no role in any of this and is just a bullsh*t attempt to manipulate his supporters into rallying to his defense and rouse some of his more unstable followers to commit/threaten acts of violence in hopes that such actions will discourage any charges being brought. All of this is perfectly legitimate and his violation of the Presidential Records Act is a slam dunk case (that he'll likely seek a plea deal on.) The only thing left to decide is if he violated other laws (like the espionage act etc.) as well. Also, the Legislative branch has no reason or Constitutional authority to get involved in criminal investigations like this. The relevant legislation already exists and is pretty clear on the matters involved.

In most races that's not enough to worry about and they can be comfortable announcing them. In very close races however, a slower more accurate count is called for. In both your Kentucky and the OP's Florida, the races weren't even close and thus both were able to announce the results quickly.

  40. Fox is just as guilty of bias as the leftwing media. Dr. Raoult's studies involved 36 patients in one and 80 in the other (not the "thousands" mentioned here.) Both had glaring issues with their methodology and neither have been independently verified. The study she mocks here (that found no benefit but did find a potential risk) was conducted with far better methodology and thus is the more reliable source of information of the bunch.

The police powers granted to the states by the 10th amendment allow them to establish and enforce laws protecting the welfare, safety, and health of the public. Her inaction regarding precautions led to South Dakota being 8th in covid deaths/100k (despite having the 6th lowest population density) with ~37% more than their fair share of such deaths.

As it stands, SD accounts for ~0.37% of the total US covid deaths but only ~0.27% of the total population. That comes out to be ~37% more than their fair share of such deaths. For comparison, California has ~10% of the total US covid deaths and ~12% of the total population. Leaving them with ~20% fewer than their share.

  49. There's no mess. The whole thing is explained by Trump's fatal tactical blunder of actively discouraging mail in voting. Had he not done that, he might have had a chance. When you take the effects of that decision into account along with some of the unique conditions involved, the results are what would be expected and the statistical anomalies only exist if you cherry pick your data to make them exist.
