  2. We account for ~34% of the total population of NATO countries but cover only ~26% of the NATO general operations funding. Some could argue that we're the deadbeats. No one makes that argument, however, because there are many different metrics to compare when determining who's pulling their weight. The 2% GDP for defense is simply one of them and not necessarily an important one, depending on the country (and all have in good faith consistently increased their defense spending each year since the agreement was made.) This is just a disingenuous (bordering on traitorous) continuance of Trump's goal to sabotage NATO which began during his previous term. He knows that most of his cultists have no clue when it comes to such things and will praise him for this when they should be calling for his head on a platter.
