Not entirely accurate concerning Pete Rose...He was a player/manager for awhile and there's evidence that he was gambling on baseball while still actually playing...and really, it was his lying about it despite the evidence that sealed his fate...the gambling alone may have eventually been forgiven...

  4. +SOD IT w We're far from perfect but if you compare us to other countries with equal or greater population, we'd be pretty low on a most corrupt list and pretty high up on any standard of living / safety list...Democracies / Republics become more difficult to manage efficiently the larger they get and all things considered we do quite well for our size...

Groundhogs can be pretty aggressive...My parent's property is somewhat of an unofficial animal preserve with raccoons, feral (but fixed) cats, a groundhog and a bunch of other random critters and the only thing that's ever come after me and refused to back off is the groundhog...The raccoons will let you pet them or just move away if they're in a bad mood and the cats are...well...feral so they simply run away but the groundhog will come after you...randomly...and even occasionally go after someone pushing a lawnmower...

  13. Kingdoms of Amalur at least deserved an honorable mention...R.A. Salvatore and Todd McFarlane as designers, good reviews, and a MMORPG based in the same world in the works (for which Salvatore had reportedly already worked up lore going back 10,000+ years...) and what happens?...death by poor money management...(with a touch of political bs thrown in for good measure...)

Song of the South is not banned in the US...Disney has simply decided not to release it (in it's entirety) on video here...While it doesn't do a great job of portraying post civil war race relations in the south (which it wasn't intended to do,) it did an excellent job of telling the folk tales it was based on (there's a reason it won the awards it did)...It's not hard to find a copy of it (It's been released for video pretty much everywhere but the US) and had they actually watched it rather than just reading the wiki, they would have realized that the other Disney examples they mentioned (minus perhaps the Siamese cats) are actually worse (the obviously racist portrayal of the Dumbo crows for instance was completely unnecessary to the story serving no purpose other than to offend...)

  16. History has shown us that people will throw money at some pretty ridiculous things as long as said things are well marketed...The sequels in question were indeed horrible movies...their saturation bombing method of marketing however, assured them great profit nonetheless...

It's an understandable oversight...For the sake of mental health, it's generally best to pretend that any Shyamalan films beyond his first two simply don't exist...Personally though, I'm surprised the Pacific Rim didn't make the list...It is definitely one of the worst films ever made...though I guess, thanks to it's ridiculous marketing blitz, it didn't technically bomb...

To put it into better perspective, there's enough already above ground to fill 3 Olympic swimming pools / enough for everyone on the planet to have ~5 solid gold rings...and China alone pulls out a decent (but intentionally limited) amount daily...Much like diamonds, there's an intentional effort made to spread false estimates of availability and to limit how much actually gets released to the market at any given time in order to price fix...It also helps to remember that, other than some uses in electronics and medical equipment etc.(for which there are viable cheaper / easier to produce alternatives) it's essentially one of the world's most expensive paperweights...and, for the most part, not really intrinsically worth the effort required to pull it out of the ground and process it...The only reason anyone still bothers is due to it's artificially inflated market value...Once investors finally realize it's really not worth it (and that the people going around advising everyone to buy it are the same people who are making themselves richer by selling it), those prices will collapse (along with the economies of any countries whose economies and/or currency are heavily reliant upon it...Russia for instance will be screwed...even more so than they already are...)
